Webinars and Workshops Being Planned for the 2013 iNEMI Roadmap

May 17 webinars focus on product sectors; regional workshops review technologies

Workshop registration is free prior to registration deadline

HERNDON, Virginia USA — April 19, 2012 — Work is well underway on the 2013 Roadmap from the International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (iNEMI), and open meetings are planned in May and June for the electronics industry to review progress to date. iNEMI has scheduled two webinars to review the findings of the Product Emulator Groups (PEGs) and three regional workshops — in North America, Asia and Europe — to review selected chapters, focusing primarily on the Technology Working Group (TWG) chapters.

PEG Webinars
iNEMI’s PEG webinars will allow the industry to get an advance look at drafts of the product sector chapters and to help identify any key issues or product requirements that may have been overlooked.  This feedback will be included in the PEG chapters when they are sent to the 21 TWGs for their use as “needs drivers” of the TWGs’ respective technologies.

The PEGs define the future technology needs of “virtual products,” or “emulators,” in six specific product sectors. Each PEG develops a detailed list of “key attribute needs” for its sector over a 10-year horizon. These key attributes are also combined into a summary spreadsheet that indicates which product sector is driving each attribute.  For the 2013 Roadmap, the PEGs have been reorganized and, in some cases, renamed, and are now: Medical, Automotive, Office Systems, High-End Systems, Portable/Consumer and Aerospace/Defense.

PEG Webinar Schedule

Regional Roadmap Workshops
iNEMI is also planning roadmap workshops in North America, Asia and Europe. These workshops will review select chapters covering primary technology and infrastructure areas, focusing on topics of greatest interest for each region. The sessions are intended to allow industry input into draft chapters in order to ensure inclusion of key issues from each region in the 2013 Roadmap.

Roadmap participation is open to non-members and is free to anyone who registers before the deadline (see table below for deadlines). After the deadline, the registration fee is $400, which will be applied to the purchase of the roadmap when it is released to industry at the end of the first quarter of 2013.

About iNEMI
The International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative’s mission is to forecast and accelerate improvements in the electronics manufacturing industry for a sustainable future.  This industry-led consortium is made up of approximately 100 manufacturers, suppliers, industry associations and consortia, government agencies and universities.  iNEMI roadmaps the needs of the electronics industry, identifies gaps in the technology infrastructure, establishes implementation projects to eliminate these gaps (both business and technical), and stimulates standards activities to speed the introduction of new technologies.  The consortium also works with government agencies, universities and other funding agencies to set priorities for future industry needs and R&D initiatives.  iNEMI is based in Herndon, Virginia (near Washington, D.C.), with regional offices in Shanghai, China; Limerick, Ireland; and Tokyo, Japan.  For additional information about iNEMI, go to http://www.inemi.org.
