Steve joined iNEMI in June of 2014 as Manager of European Operations. In this role, he supports the consortium’s activities, membership and technical interfaces in Europe. He brings with him expertise in PCB and packaging, as well as with EU-funded collaborative project management.
Prior to joining iNEMI, he had been Director of Endicott Interconnect Technologies’ European subsidiary based in the UK, responsible for business development in Europe for their advanced high-reliability semiconductor packaging and system-in-package offerings. Steve began his career at GEC Marconi Research Laboratories at Gt. Baddow, Chelmsford, UK, as a research engineer investigating connector reliability and beam-lead chip assembly. He eventually became Divisional Manager of Marconi’s
Printed Circuit Board manufacturing facility. He has also worked with Ciba Geigy (Ilford Ltd.) in the field of radiography imaging and commercial photography, and with Kam Circuits, where he was responsible for fabricating MCM-L product for National Semiconductor and Amkor Technology and, in parallel, coordinating multi-national collaborative research projects for MCM-L development and embedding passive components within PCB structures.
In 1995, Steve formed Cirflex Technology Ltd, a technical and management consultancy providing technical support and business development services for electronic materials, components, capital equipment, software and educational course development. Steve has been involved with advanced circuit materials and manufacturing processes, laser micro machining and technical due diligence for investment firms.
Steve was a 1999 recipient of a Winston Churchill fellowship to study new and emerging printed circuit and flexible circuit technologies in Japan, the U.S. and Europe, participating in a UK government technical trade mission to Japan. Steve has been a technical evaluator for Enterprise Ireland and has served on the Board of the PCIF (Printed Circuit Interconnection Federation), the Industrial Liaison Committee of the University of Hull and, more recently, on the IeMRC Industrial Steering Group.
Steve is Immediate Past Chairman and Fellow of the Institute of Circuit Technology (ICT) and currently serves on the Council of the ICT; he is a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) and a member of IMAPS. He graduated from Mid Essex Technical College (now Anglia Ruskin University) with a degree in Applied Physics.
